Mission Partnership

We take mission partnership seriously. The church is not a social club but a network of people sent to be the salt and the light of the world. Part of the hope of this course is that you will make the Vintage Faith Community your home church – a community of faith that becomes your family, caring for one another and working together to bring the good news about God’s kingdom to Spokane, the Northwest, and the world!

When you become a Christian, you are entering into two covenants. The first is to love God and walk with him all the days of your life. The second is to love fellow Christians and walk with them as brothers and sisters in the community of the local church. Your partnership in a church is an official recognition of this, and the purposes of the Vintage Faith Partnership Covenant are:

Accountability – In order to grow up in our faith, we must be able to challenge and encourage one another towards Christian maturity. Your partnership at Vintage means you are held accountable for your thoughts, actions, and intentions on a church-wide scale (see Matthew 14). There are too many rogue Christians who move from church to church never dealing with their sin and never having any consistent accountability.

Consistent Witness – Jesus said we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world (Matt. 5), but Satan often sends into the church all sorts of people who want to sabotage the kind of community we are commanded to be. Partnership allows us to clarify who is actually a part of our local “city on a hill” and screen out nutjobs, heretics, liars, wolves, and divisive people (Titus 1.10-16; Philippians 3.17-21).

Serving in Mission – as we go about fulfilling our call to serve the city, we need to be able to release people to follow their missional dreams. Partnership ensures that we know the people we send as leaders and servants, which in turn ensures that we have a consistent missional purpose and witness in Spokane.

Pastoral Care – Pastors and leaders are held accountable for those they lead (Hebrews 13.17). Partnership clarifies exactly who the leadership is, whom they are accountable for, and ensures that those within the body receive the care, counsel, and encouragement they need.
